Ferrari (S.p.A.) is an Italian luxury sports car manufacturer based in Maranello (Italy). Enzo Ferrari was founded by in 1929. Enzo Ferrari was not initially interested in the idea of producing road cars when he formed Scuderia Ferrari in 1928 as a sponsor for part-time drivers headquartered in Modena (Italy). Ferrari ready and successfully raced a variety of drivers in Alfa Romeo cars until 1938, while he was hired by Alfa Romeo to head their motor racing division.
In 1941, Alfa Romeo was confiscated by the fascist management of Benito Mussolini as division of the Axis Powers’ war attempt. Enzo Ferrari’s division was little enough to be unaffected by this because he was forbidden by contract from racing for 4 years, the Scuderia temporarily became Auto Avio Costruzioni Ferrari which ostensibly shaped engine tools and aircraft accessories. As well recognized as SEFAC (Scuderia Enzo Ferrari Auto Corse), Ferrari did in fact create one race car, the Tipo 815, in non-competition period. It was the primary actual Ferrari car, but due to World War 2 it saw small competition. In 1943 the Ferrari Company moved to Maranello (Italy), where it has remained ever since. The factory was attacked by the Allies in 1944 and rebuilt in 1946, after the war II ended, and included a works for road car production.
Ferrari first road car was the 1947, powered by a 1.5 L V12 engine; Enzo Ferrari unwillingly built and sold his automobile to fund Scuderia Ferrari.Early in 1969, Fiat took a 50% stake in Ferrari. An instant results was an increase in available investment finances, and work started at once on a factory extension intended to transfer production from Fiat’s Turin plant of the Ferrari engine Fiat Dino. New model investment further up in the Ferrari range also established a boost.
Enzo Ferrari oversaw the start of the Ferrari F40 In 1988. The last new Ferrari to be launched before his loss later that year, and arguably one of the majority famous super cars ever made. From 2002 to 2004, Ferrari created the Enzo, their fastest model at the time, which was introduce and named in honor of the company’s founder Enzo Ferrari. It was to be named the F60 continuing on from the F40 and F50, but Ferrari was so happy with it; they called it the Enzo instead.
On September 15th 2012, 964 Ferrari cars attended the Ferrari Driving Days event at Silver stone Circuit and paraded round the Silver stone Circuit setting a world record. Ferrari’s previous CEO & Chairman, Luca di Montezemolo, resigned from the company after 23 years and is to be succeeded by Sergio Marchionne, CEO & Chairman of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ferrari’s parent company.
On October 29th 2014, the FCA Company resulting from the merger between manufacturers Fiat and Chrysler, announced the split of it is luxury brand Ferrari. The aim is to turn Ferrari Company into an independent brand which 10% of stake will be sold in an IPO in 2015.
